Welcome to the Godfreys website Terms and Conditions. These Terms and Conditions apply to the use of our website and by accessing this website and/or placing an order you agree to be bound by the Terms and Conditions set out below and our Privacy Policy.


Whilst we have made every effort to ensure that the content of this website is as accurate as possible, we do not guarantee the content will be free of errors. To the fullest extent permitted at law we shall not be liable for any kind of loss or damage from action taken or reliance placed on information contained on this website.


Any order for goods placed through our website shall be subject to these Terms and Conditions. All other Terms and Conditions expressed or implied by statute or otherwise are excluded to the fullest extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to limit any rights you might have as a consumer under any applicable law or other statutory rights that may not be excluded.

Payment must be made for the total price of the goods that you order before your order can be processed. Once payment has been received  we will confirm that your order has been received by sending an email to you at the email address you provide in your order form. Order acceptance and the completion of the contract between you and us will take place on the despatch to you of the goods ordered.

Please be advised neither ourselves or our franchises tolerate drop shipping. Any seller who places an order for direct delivery to their customer will have their order cancelled.


All the machinery we sell are brand new and will have been fully tested by the manufacturer, being subject to a Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI). This means there may be traces of oil or fuel, and very minor signs of use on your machine, and it may not be in its original box. Items are often also repackaged to ensure safe delivery. Please note, some machinery and accessories may require assembly on receipt. If you have any concerns about this, please do contact us.


Delivery charges vary upon several factors, including parcel weight, delivery location, and the courier used; please see our delivery page for the latest and up-to-date delivery charges, or add item(s) to your basket and enter the delivery postcode on the basket page to see the available options and corresponding prices.

In the event of a courier investigation for non-received or missing goods, the investigation must conclude before a resolution can be made, including us issuing a refund.

Our dispatch times are calculated in working days i.e. Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays, and weekends), they are only estimates as factors including seasonality, stock availability and location may affect these.

We use various couriers and most will deliver 8am – 6pm, Monday – Friday although delivery attempts outside of these hours may be made (for example additional hours may be worked over the festive period). All our couriers usually deliver on the next available working day after collecting the consignment from us, although this isn’t guaranteed especially for harder-to-reach areas where delivery may take additional days.

Our delivery carriers a usually willing to leave items in a safe place if you are out although note we cannot be held responsible for any loss of damage to items because of them being left unattended based on your instructions.

Similarly, if you choose to arrange a different delivery address with the courier (including to a local pick-up point) then the contract between Godfreys Sevenoaks Limited and yourself is broken and liability for the goods is the responsibility of the customer; note you will not be covered by your card company should anything happen in this instance, either.

Should your consignment be marked as delivered by the courier and you cannot locate your parcel, we will need to raise a case with the courier as a matter of urgency. As far as we are advised the parcel has been delivered, so we cannot act upon this information until a full investigation is carried out; this includes sending replacement items. To reiterate, in the event of a courier investigation for non-received or missing goods, the investigation must conclude before a resolution can be made, including us issuing a refund.

If a consignment is delivered damaged, you must ask the carrier to mark it as such so that we can make a claim on your behalf. You will not be covered in this instance if you do not mark your consignment as ‘damaged’.


All products are covered by a full manufacturer’s warranty, the period of which varies according to the product. The warranty period starts from the date of purchase, and some are conditional on the product being serviced at the recommended intervals by an approved dealer.

The warranty covers faults, which may occur due to faulty components or workmanship but excludes consumable items such as belts and blades, fair wear and tear or defects caused by misuse or fuelling.


If the goods we deliver are not what you ordered or are damaged or defective or the delivery is of an incorrect quantity, we shall have no liability to you unless you notify us by email or in writing at our contact address within 14 days. If you notify a problem to us under this condition, our only obligation will be:

To make good any shortage or non-delivery;

To repair or replace any goods that are damaged or defective; or if repair to or replacement of the goods is not possible, or the cost of repair or replacement is disproportionate in the circumstances, to give you a partial or full refund for the goods in question, depending on what is reasonable in the circumstances.

Save as precluded by law, we will not be liable to you for any indirect or consequential loss, damage, or expenses (including loss of profits, business or goodwill) howsoever arising out of any problem you notify to us under this condition and we shall have no liability to pay any money to you by way of compensation.


Godfreys Sevenoaks Limited work in partnership with Lloyds Cardnet and PayPal to ensure that all information you give us during the order process is encrypted before transmission via the World Wide Web. If any other Internet user should intercept the communication they will only be able to see it in the encrypted form.


We are committed to protecting your privacy. We will only use the information that you provide for the purpose of processing your order or enquiry and evaluating our performance. Your name, address and telephone number will be provided to our courier to allow them to deliver your order. Where it is necessary to validate the warranty on your purchase we may complete and submit the registration details on your behalf. Typically, this would involve supplying your name, address, telephone number and details of the equipment purchased to the manufacturer. Except as already mentioned, we will not provide your personal details to others.

Every effort has been made to ensure the accuracy of all information contained herein. The company makes no warranty expressed or implied with respect to accuracy of the information, including price, product copy or product specifications. The company or its suppliers shall not be liable for incidental, consequential or special damages arising from, or as a result of, any electronic transmission or the accuracy of the information contained herein, even if the company has been advised of the possibility of such damages. Product and manufacturer names are used only for the purpose of identification.

Price information

The prices shown are only applicable to purchases made via the Godfreys website. Prices in our stores may vary to those shown on the website. Special offers and promotions advertised in the press or other media may be excluded unless specifically advertised as available online. All prices are correct at time of display online and include V.A.T where appropriate. We regret we are not able to offer VAT exclusive pricing for deliveries to the Channel Islands. In the unlikely event of an administrative error resulting in an incorrect price being displayed, we reserve the right to correct the price. In these circumstances, you will not be bound to continue with your purchase and will be asked to email us to confirm that you wish to proceed.

Promotional items

We reserve the right to remove any promotions at any time, without warning. All promotional items are subject to availability, are non-transferable, and there are no cash alternatives or other gifts.

Should you return part/all of your order and it no longer qualifies for the promotion, we expect the free item(s) to be returned else we will deduct the items full price from the value of the refund.

Cancellation of contract

You may cancel your contract with us for the goods you order at any time up to the end of the fourteenth day from the date you receive the ordered goods, which must be in writing or by e-mail. If you have received the goods before you cancel your contract then, you must send the goods back unused and in their original packaging or in a suitable box/packaging to the address specified by us, at your own cost and risk and within fourteen days from the point at which you notify us of the cancellation. If you cancel your contract but we have already processed the goods for delivery you must not unpack the goods when they are received by you and you must send the goods back to us at the address specified by us, at your own cost and risk as soon as possible.

Once you have notified us that you are cancelling your contract, any sum deducted by us for the products from your payment card will be re-credited to your account as soon as possible provided that the goods in question are returned by you in the condition they were in when delivered to you. We regret that delivery charges where applicable are non-refundable. If you do not return the goods or pay the cost of return delivery, we shall be entitled to deduct the direct costs of recovering the goods from the amount to be re-credited to you.


Where goods are not faulty, but the customer wishes to return them, the goods can only be returned to the company if fully re-saleable, being unopened with any original manufacturers seals or shrink wrap in place, within fourteen days. Such returns will be subject to a restocking charge of 25% of the original purchase price.

You will be under a duty to take reasonable care to see that returned goods are well packaged, so to avoid damage in transit. An appropriate method of return should be used. All goods are returned at your own cost. We can arrange a collection from the original delivery address only, this will be charged to you; any failed collections will be charged. When returning any petrol powered product all oil and petrol MUST be drained from the engine before you release the goods to a carrier. This is for the safety of the carrier firm.

Cancellation by us.

We reserve the right to cancel the contract between us if:

  • We have insufficient stock to deliver the goods you have ordered:
  • The product is no longer available due to manufacturers non supply:
  • We do not deliver to your area:
  • One or more of the goods you ordered was listed at an incorrect price due to a typographical error or an error in the pricing information received by us from our suppliers:
  • Your order does not meet our guidelines e.g. no drop-shipping


If we do cancel your contract, we will notify you by e-mail and will re-credit to your account any sum deducted by us from the payment method used to purchase the item as soon as possible but in any event within 30 days of your order. We will not be obliged to offer any additional compensation for disappointment.
